Xolos Femenil draws 2-2 with Atlas in thrilling match marked by penalties and Kader Hançar’s debut
Tijuana missed a penalty and allowed two, but finished strong with an inspiring debut goal from the Turkish striker
Penalties, missed chances, and early drama
Tijuana, July 30 – In a match full of twists, fouls, and high stakes, Club Tijuana Femenil and Atlas Femenil shared points in a 2-2 draw at Estadio Caliente. The match featured three penalty kicks—two converted by Atlas and one missed by Tijuana—as well as the anticipated debut of Turkish forward Kader Hançar, who made an immediate impact.
The match was intense from the opening whistle. In the 19th minute, Xolos was awarded a penalty, but Jazmín Enrigue failed to convert. Atlas responded aggressively, earning two penalties of their own. Brenda Cerén capitalized on both opportunities (minutes 34 and 68), giving the visitors a 2-1 lead.
Kassandra opens the scoring and Kader shines on debut
Before Atlas’ second goal, Kassandra Flores had leveled the score in the 39th minute with a clinical finish from inside the box, giving Tijuana a much-needed boost before halftime.
Then came the moment fans had been waiting for: Kader Hançar entered the field in the 64th minute and made her presence felt almost immediately. Just six minutes later, she struck a powerful shot from outside the box that found the back of the net, securing the 2-2 equalizer and a perfect start to her Xolos career.
Late push nearly wins it for Tijuana
With momentum on their side, Xolos dominated the closing moments of the match. They created multiple scoring chances, forced back-to-back corner kicks, and tested the Atlas goalkeeper with shots that nearly broke the deadlock.
The referee added five minutes of stoppage time, during which Tijuana continued pressing for the winner. A last-minute save denied the hosts what would have been a dramatic comeback.
A bittersweet result but promising signs for Xolos
While the draw earns a valuable point, Xolos Femenil may feel they left two on the table. The missed penalty early on and the two awarded against them made the road more difficult. Still, the team showed resilience, particularly in the second half, and left fans optimistic after Kader Hançar’s impressive debut.
With standout performances from Kassandra Flores, Naomi Rojo, and Hançar, the team will look to build on this momentum heading into their next fixture.
