🐾 Xolos Open Apertura 2025 with a 1-0 Win Over Querétaro
🏟️ A Strong Start at Home for the Pack
Club Tijuana kicked off their Apertura 2025 campaign with a solid 1-0 victory over Querétaro at Estadio Caliente. Under the guidance of manager Miguel Herrera, the Xolos controlled the match from the beginning, showcasing disciplined defense and creative attacking play in their first fixture of the tournament.
⚽ The Winning Goal
The only goal of the match came in the first half from a set-piece. Jamaican striker Shamar Nicholson connected with a header off a corner kick, forcing a save from the Querétaro goalkeeper. On the rebound, Ecuadorian winger Adonis Preciado provided a quick assist that deflected off a defender and into the net.
🔒 Dominant and Composed
Throughout the game, Xolos maintained possession and effectively neutralized Querétaro's attacking threats. Goalkeeper Toño Rodríguez and the defensive line ensured a clean sheet, while the team created at least two more clear chances to increase the lead in the second half. Despite the missed opportunities, the match ended 1-0 in favor of the Border City Dogs.
📆 Next Challenge: Club América
With their first three points secured, Xolos now turn their attention to a tough road trip to Mexico City, where they’ll face Club América at Estadio Azteca on Wednesday, July 16, in Matchday 2 of the Apertura 2025.
