San Diego Wave continues their impressive run
San Diego Wave FC continued their excellent form with a well-earned 2-0 victory over NJ/NY Gotham FC.
Facing one of the league's strongest squads, the Wave delivered another disciplined performance built on defensive organization, timely finishing, and strong teamwork. The result strengthens San Diego's position among the NWSL's top contenders.
Gotham started brightly
The visitors created the first dangerous chances of the match through Esther González and Jaelin Shaw, forcing goalkeeper Lauren Agudelo and the Wave defense into several important interventions.
At the other end, Ludmila tested Ann-Katrin Berger early, but the Gotham goalkeeper kept the match scoreless with a series of quality saves.
Melanie Barcenas strikes before halftime
As the first half progressed, San Diego gradually took control of possession. Their breakthrough arrived in the 45th minute when Melanie Barcenas found space inside the penalty area and calmly finished to give the Wave a 1-0 lead just before halftime.

Meanwhile, Ann-Katrin Berger also kept the visitors alive with important stops against Gabi Portilho, Melanie Barcenas, and Ludmila.
Trinity Byars seals the victory
As Gotham committed more players forward late in the match, San Diego capitalized on the extra space. In stoppage time, Trinity Byars finished off a quick attacking move to score the second goal and secure the 2-0 victory.
The goal capped another mature performance from the Wave and sparked celebrations throughout Snapdragon Stadium.
