Toluca, March 18 — San Diego FC was eliminated from the CONCACAF Champions Cup after suffering a 4-0 loss to Deportivo Toluca FC in the second leg of the Round of 16 at the Estadio Nemesio Diez.
San Diego entered the match with a 3-2 advantage from the first leg but faced a difficult challenge playing at altitude in one of Mexico’s toughest venues.
Key absences impact San Diego
San Diego FC was forced to adjust its lineup due to the suspensions of Kwadwo Duah and Marcus Ingvartsen, both sent off in the first leg.
Head coach Mikey Varas had to reshuffle his squad, which affected the team’s balance.

In the 85th minute, Christopher McVey was sent off after receiving a second yellow card.
