San Diego FC finally finds relief
After weeks of frustration, San Diego FC returned to winning ways with a dominant 5-0 victory over Austin FC at home.
The California club entered the match on a nine-game winless streak, despite showing flashes of improvement in recent performances.
Fast start sets the tone
San Diego made its intentions clear early in the match.
In the 7th minute, a strong collective play started by Luca Bombino and assisted by Onni Valakari allowed David Vázquez to score the opening goal.
The early lead energized both the team and the home crowd.
Dreyer doubles the lead
The attacking pressure continued, and in the 17th minute, Pedro Soma delivered a through ball to Anders Dreyer, who beat a defender before finishing for the 2-0.
San Diego looked sharper and more aggressive offensively than in previous matches.
Offensive explosion seals the victory
San Diego FC kept pushing forward and produced one of its best performances of the season.
Marcus Ingvartsen, Pedro Soma, and another goal from David Vázquez completed the 5-0 rout.
A much-needed confidence boost
Beyond the result, the victory gives an important emotional lift to the team coached by Mikey Varas after weeks of criticism and poor results.
The attacking chemistry and overall intensity offered encouraging signs moving forward.
What’s next for San Diego FC
San Diego FC will now prepare to host FC Cincinnati in another key MLS matchup.
The match will also feature a special giveaway, with the first 20,000 fans receiving the club’s first official bobblehead featuring Anders Dreyer in a “paletero” theme.
