San Diego FC unable to hold the lead

San Diego FC drew 3-3 against FC Cincinnati in a dramatic match that ended in frustration for the California side.

After snapping their winless streak with a 5-0 victory over Austin FC, San Diego hoped to secure back-to-back wins in Major League Soccer.

Cincinnati strikes first

The visitors opened the scoring early. In the 10th minute, a defensive mistake from Luca Bombino allowed Kenji Mboma to score from the left side.

San Diego attempted to respond immediately after conceding.

Ingvartsen leads the comeback

San Diego’s pressure paid off in the 32nd minute when Marcus Ingvartsen scored the equalizer.

The goal shifted momentum toward the home side.

Goals continue in the second half

Early in the second half, a corner from Evander led to a goal by Tom Barlow after defensive mistakes from San Diego.

Once again, the home side responded. In the 65th minute, the young Anisse Saidi assisted Amahl Pellegrino, who scored what looked like the winning goal.

Late equalizer changes everything

Just as San Diego seemed set for victory, another defensive lapse allowed Tom Barlow to score his second goal of the match and secure a 3-3 draw in the final moments.

The result felt like a loss for the team coached by Mikey Varas.

Another major challenge ahead

Despite positive attacking moments, San Diego continues to struggle defensively and remains inconsistent.

Their next challenge comes against Vancouver Whitecaps FC, one of the strongest teams in the conference led by Thomas Müller.
