The Super Falcons of Nigeria secured their place in the grand final of the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) after a thrilling 2-1 semifinal win over defending champions South Africa, held at Larbi Zaouli Stadium.
The match was filled with tactical tension, physical intensity, and emotional swings. Rasheedat Ajibade opened the scoring for Nigeria with a sharp finish near the edge of the box. South Africa responded with grit, leveling the match and pushing Nigeria into uncomfortable territory.
Just when the game seemed destined for extra time, Michelle Alozie delivered a deep cross that curled unexpectedly and sailed over South African goalkeeper Andile Dlamini to seal the dramatic victory in stoppage time, sending the Nigerian bench into celebration.
