Xolos lose 3-1 to Portland and finish Leagues Cup without a win

Xolos ended their Leagues Cup campaign with a 3-1 defeat against Portland Timbers, finishing the tournament without a single win.

With the team already eliminated, Sebastián "Loco" Abreu made several changes to his lineup. Gilberto Mora and Tonio Rodríguez started on the bench, giving opportunities to players who had seen limited minutes during the tournament.

In the 19th minute, Mourad gave Xolos the lead with a 1-0 finish. The goal would become particularly significant as it was the only goal Xolos scored throughout their entire Leagues Cup campaign.

Portland responded immediately after halftime. In the 46th minute, Kelsy equalized for the home side.

From the 47th minute onward, the match became increasingly physical, with several yellow cards being shown as both teams reacted to a number of controversial officiating decisions.

In the 63rd minute, a poor clearance from Xolos allowed Antony to put Portland ahead.

The home side sealed the victory in the 76th minute, when Lassiter scored to make it 3-1.

Throughout the match, Xolos supporters expressed their frustration with boos, particularly over Gilberto Mora remaining on the bench and a performance that failed to meet expectations.

With the result, Xolos finish their Leagues Cup campaign without a win, scoring only once across the tournament.

The Tijuana side will now turn its attention back to Liga MX, with their next match coming Sunday against Cruz Azul at Estadio Caliente.
