América Dominate Chivas 3-1 in El Clásico Nacional Femenil with a Cuauhtémoc Blanco-Style Celebration
Two of the standout teams of the 2026 Liga MX Femenil Apertura tournament faced off in another edition of El Clásico Nacional. Chivas and América entered the matchup among the leading teams in their respective groups, occupying second and first place after consistent regular-season campaigns.
With their playoff positions already secured, the match represented much more than three points. It was an opportunity to claim bragging rights in one of Mexican soccer's biggest rivalries.
From the opening minutes, América made its intentions clear. In the sixth minute, Las Águilas found the back of the net, but the goal was ruled out following an official review.
The visitors continued pushing forward and finally took the lead in the 13th minute, when Daniela García scored to make it 1-0. América began to expose defensive weaknesses in Guadalajara's back line, creating problems for the home side throughout the match.
The second half brought more of the same. In the 50th minute, Alexa Soto doubled América's advantage, putting the visitors in an even stronger position. Just eight minutes later, in the 58th minute, Scarlett Camberos scored the third goal of the night to make it 3-0 and put the match virtually out of reach.
Camberos' celebration became one of the highlights of the evening. The América forward celebrated in the style of Cuauhtémoc Blanco, recreating one of the most iconic celebrations in the club's history and a moment beloved by its supporters.
América nearly added another goal in the 69th minute, but the effort was once again disallowed following an official review.
As the match approached its conclusion, Chivas managed to pull one goal back from the penalty spot. In the 87th minute, Alicia Cervantes converted the penalty to make it 3-1, although the goal was not enough to change the outcome.
With a convincing 3-1 victory, América closed out the regular season by showcasing the level of performance it had maintained throughout the tournament and reinforcing its status as one of the leading contenders in the Apertura 2026.
For Chivas, the defeat was a disappointing result in front of its home supporters, especially against its biggest rival, just before the decisive stage of the championship.
Las Águilas leave Guadalajara with the bragging rights and another statement victory to cap off their regular-season campaign.
