Liga MX Femenil Announces First-Ever All-Star Match Against Barcelona

🌎 A Historic Step Toward Globalization

Liga MX Femenil continues to make bold strides, and this summer it will reach a historic milestone: its first-ever international All-Star match. The event will feature a selection of Mexico’s top players facing off against none other than FC Barcelona Femení, one of the most successful clubs in the world.

The highly anticipated match will take place on August 22, 2025, at the iconic Estadio Universitario in Nuevo León, home of Tigres Femenil. The announcement was made jointly by Mariana Gutiérrez, President of Liga MX Femenil; Xavi Puig, Director of Women’s Football at FC Barcelona; and Josi Eshkenazi, CEO of Soccer Media.

🎯 Goal: Compete with the Global Elite

This match aims to boost the international visibility of Liga MX Femenil, highlight the immense talent within the league, and provide fans with an unprecedented sporting spectacle.

“The All-Star Match is a key step in the growth of the LIGA BBVA MX Femenil… It reflects who we are: an unstoppable league,” said Mariana Gutiérrez.

👥 How the Mexican Team Will Be Selected

The Liga MX Femenil All-Star Team will feature 30 players from the league’s 18 clubs, selected through a combination of performance metrics and fan voting:

  • 4 players named as the season’s best for 2024-25

  • 21 players chosen through advanced performance analysis by the CITEC (Innovation and Technology Center) and Index Score metrics

  • 3 players selected through fan voting, which begins on July 23

  • 2 surprise players, whose names will be announced soon

The team will be managed by the Tigres Femenil coaching staff, since Rayadas, América, and Pachuca will be competing in Concacaf tournaments.

🌟 Confirmed Stars

The first four confirmed stars—recognized as the league’s best this season—are:

  • Charlyn Corral (Pachuca)

  • Esthefanny Barreras (Pachuca)

  • Blanca Félix (Guadalajara)

  • Jacqueline "La Maga" Ovalle (Tigres)

Ovalle, known for her speed, vision, and spectacular goals, is set to be one of the marquee players in this global clash.
