International action before MLS kickoff
Although the 2026 MLS season has not officially started, MLS teams are already competing internationally in the Concacaf Champions Cup.
LAFC traveled to Honduras to face Real España in a matchup that, on paper, favored the Hollywood club, featuring international stars such as Hugo Lloris, Heung-Min Son, and MLS standout Denis Bouanga.
Early goal and total control
LAFC struck early, converting a penalty in the 3rd minute to take the lead. That goal set the tone for the rest of the match.
From that point on, the Los Angeles side controlled possession, created multiple scoring opportunities, and cruised to a commanding 6-1 victory, leaving the series nearly decided.
The star of the night: Heung-Min Son
The standout performer was Heung-Min Son. The South Korean international, known worldwide for his Premier League success, delivered one goal and three assists, playing a decisive role in the win.
Since joining LAFC, he has shown his elite quality, and this performance strengthens the club’s ambitions in its pursuit of the MLS Cup.
Focus shifts to MLS opener
With such a comfortable lead, LAFC can approach the second leg with confidence and turn its attention to the MLS season opener.
