Keenan Allen Returns Home: Chargers Sign Six-Time Pro Bowl Wide Receiver

The most productive wideout in franchise history is back to keep building his legacy in Los Angeles

LOS ANGELES, CA (August 6, 2025) — In a move widely celebrated by fans, the Los Angeles Chargers have reached an agreement with wide receiver Keenan Allen, a six-time Pro Bowl selection and one of the greatest receivers in franchise history.

Allen, who spent 11 stellar seasons with the Bolts before a short stint with the Chicago Bears in 2024, returns holding multiple franchise records: most receptions (904) and most receiving yards (10,530) among all Chargers wide receivers. His six Pro Bowl selections are tied for the second-most by any Chargers draft pick, trailing only the legendary Junior Seau’s 12.

Records, Consistency, and Legacy

Throughout his tenure in Los Angeles, Allen played 144 games (138 starts) including the postseason, tallying 59 regular-season touchdowns and 3 more in the playoffs. His 2023 season was historic, breaking the single-season franchise record with 108 receptions, and becoming the fastest player in NFL history to reach 900 career catches, doing so in his 139th game.

That same season, he delivered one of the NFL’s most memorable individual performances: 18 catches for 215 yards and a passing touchdown, becoming the first player ever to log 15+ receptions, 100+ receiving yards, and a passing touchdown in one game.

A Hall of Fame-Worthy Career

Drafted in the third round in 2013, Allen has appeared in 154 regular-season games (149 starts) over a 12-year career. His 974 career receptions, along with 11,274 yards and 66 touchdowns, rank him third among all active NFL players. He's also caught at least 60 passes and scored four or more touchdowns in each of the last eight seasons — one of the longest such streaks currently active in the league.

In five playoff games, Allen has notched 20 receptions for 336 yards and three scores.

Allen was also the NFL Comeback Player of the Year in 2017, setting numerous franchise and league records that season, including becoming the first player to post three straight games with 10+ catches, 100+ yards, and a touchdown. He even recorded an interception that same year — a feat achieved by only two other receivers in history: Don Hutson (1942) and Randy Moss (2009).

A Bond That Never Broke

Allen’s return marks the beginning of a promising second chapter in Los Angeles. His bond with the fans, leadership in the locker room, and elite playmaking ability bring renewed hope to a Chargers team looking to reestablish itself in the AFC.

With No. 13 back in the lineup, the Bolts regain not just a star — but a franchise cornerstone.
