Colombia shines with historic thrashing over Bolivia

The Colombian Women’s National Team delivered one of the most dominant performances of the tournament, defeating Bolivia 8-0 in Matchday 4 of the group stage at the 2025 Women’s Copa América, held at the Gonzalo Pozo Ripalda Stadium in Quito.

From the first whistle, Angelo Marsiglia’s squad displayed their technical and tactical superiority. Daniela Montoya opened the scoring in the 9th minute after capitalizing on a Bolivian defensive error and added her second goal in the 32nd minute with a powerful shot. Star forward Mayra Ramírez scored the second goal with a header off a corner kick and provided two crucial assists.

An own goal from Anabel Flórez in the 37th minute, followed by a composed finish by Linda Caicedo in the 43rd, sealed a commanding 5-0 lead at halftime.

In the second half, Wendy Bonilla (55’) and Jorelyn Carabalí (68’) extended the lead. Carabalí’s header marked Colombia’s 100th goal in Women’s Copa América history. Valerin Loboa finished the rout in stoppage time (90+2’) with a stunning strike from distance that soared over goalkeeper Erika Sánchez.

Ready for Brazil

With this win, Colombia now sits atop the group with seven points, pending the result of the Brazil vs. Paraguay match. The Colombians will next face the reigning champions in a pivotal match that could determine first place in the group.

Bolivia, on the other hand, ends its campaign with a performance to forget: zero points, only one goal scored, and 20 conceded.

Player of the Match

Mayra Ramírez earned player of the match honors with a goal, two assists, and a constant presence in the attacking third. The Chelsea striker was instrumental in leading Colombia’s relentless offense.
