A Night of Emotions at Estadio Ciudad de los Deportes
The Clásico Nacional once again delivered a thrilling show. In a match full of drama, fouls, and late goals, Chivas de Guadalajara defeated Club América 2-1 at Estadio Ciudad de los Deportes, reinforcing their status as one of Liga MX’s most competitive sides.
A First Half of Resistance
The first half ended scoreless, with América pushing to break through Guadalajara’s defense. The home side had several attempts, but Chivas held their ground, staying compact and looking to surprise on the counterattack, though they also couldn’t find the net.
Second Half Turns the Tide
The game shifted in the second half. At the 62nd minute, Roberto “Piojo” Alvarado opened the scoring for Chivas with a precise finish inside the box.
Later, substitute Armando González extended the lead in the 87th minute with a stunning strike from outside the area, giving Guadalajara what looked like a decisive advantage.
América responded in stoppage time when Alejandro Zendejas converted a direct free kick (+11’), cutting the deficit and igniting hopes of a comeback. However, Chivas managed to hold on until the final whistle.
A Heated Rivalry
The clash wasn’t only about goals—it was also marked by multiple fouls, yellow cards, and even a red card issued to América’s staff member Marcos De Seixas Correa, fueling the intensity of the rivalry on and off the pitch.
Conclusion
With this result, Chivas not only claimed bragging rights in the Clásico Nacional, but also gained valuable points in the league table. América, on the other hand, will need to bounce back after a bitter home loss in Mexico’s most iconic rivalry.
