Brazil responds in style
After a disappointing opening match, the Brazil National Team delivered a much stronger performance by defeating the Haiti National Team 3-0 in their second match of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Coming into the match, Carlo Ancelotti's side faced criticism following an underwhelming display against Morocco, while Haiti hoped to end a World Cup scoring drought dating back to 1974.
Instead, Brazil quickly demonstrated its superior quality.
Vinícius Jr takes over
Brazil dominated possession from the opening whistle. A goal from Raphinha was ruled out for offside in the 12th minute, but it was only a sign of things to come.
The breakthrough arrived in the 22nd minute when Matheus Cunha finished a brilliant move created by Vinícius Jr to make it 1-0.
Cunha doubles the advantage
Brazil continued creating chances and exploiting spaces behind Haiti's defense.
In the 35th minute, Vinícius Jr delivered another assist, once again finding Matheus Cunha, who calmly finished for his second goal of the night. At that point, Brazil had complete control of the match.
Injury concern for Raphinha
The only negative moment for Brazil came shortly before halftime. Raphinha was forced to leave the match in the 39th minute due to injury, creating concern for a squad already missing Neymar.
Brazil will now wait for further medical evaluations to determine the severity of the issue.
Vinícius seals a memorable performance
Before the first half ended, Vinícius Jr added a goal to his outstanding display.
In stoppage time, the Brazilian star found the back of the net to make it 3-0 and cap off a remarkable first-half performance that included two assists and a goal. The strike effectively ended any hopes of a Haitian comeback.
Endrick makes his World Cup debut
The second half was largely controlled by Brazil as they managed their advantage. One of the biggest moments came with the introduction of Endrick, who made his FIFA World Cup debut.
The young forward thought he had scored in the 77th minute, but his goal was ruled out for offside. Even so, his appearance provided a glimpse into Brazil's bright future.
Brazil regains momentum
The victory gives Brazil a much-needed boost in confidence and strengthens their position in the group.
Vinícius Jr emerged as the clear star of the match, while Matheus Cunha delivered one of the best performances of his international career.
For Haiti, the defeat leaves qualification hopes hanging by a thread and extends their long wait for a World Cup goal.
Brazil, meanwhile, looked much more like the title contender many expected heading into the tournament.
