América vs Pachuca to Be Played Behind Closed Doors at Estadio Ciudad de los Deportes

CDMX – The Benito Juárez local government confirmed on Wednesday that the Liga MX match between América and Pachuca, scheduled for Saturday, August 30 at 9:00 p.m., will be played behind closed doors at Estadio Ciudad de los Deportes.

The Reason Behind the Decision

The measure was taken after an incident in which América’s security personnel exceeded their authority by closing Indiana Street in the Ciudad de los Deportes neighborhood. This action directly affected local residents, with the most concerning case being that of a woman who was denied access while in need of medical attention.

Police forces intervened promptly to reopen the road, in compliance with the “Operativo Ladrillera”, a protocol that clearly defines street closures and openings depending on stadium attendance levels.

Conditions for Opening to the Public

The local government made it clear that, until Club América demonstrates that its security staff —or the company providing these services— is properly trained and certified, no matches will be allowed to host fans in the stands.

Priority: Order and Safety

In its statement, the Benito Juárez government emphasized that its priority in any public event is to protect the safety and well-being of residents and visitors. “Nothing and no one can override these principles,” the administration stressed, reaffirming that order and security must prevail above all else.
